Default Echo revving problem

I have the same problem with my 2000 auto echo. It barely revs, only to about 2000 rpm. In gear it tends to stall out from the pull of the tranny. It will stay running, but it wont accelerate much. You can put the pedal to the floor, and it is barely over idle. Have you ever figured out what happened?
I have no dash warning lights on either, and if I turn it off, it starts right up again????
