No expert but I will try, A disc brake has about a 2.5 inch piston putting preasure on both sides of a disc, a drum brake has about 1.5 to 2 inches of pistons activating a dragging brake on the inside of a drum. Disc brakes usually have, more surface area than the drum brakes have. Disc brakes cool better, Drum brakes are cheaper to repair, and cheaper initially.
