There are several EPA approved Propane systems now available for professional installation. 4.6 Ford, 5.4 Ford, 5.7 Dodge, 6.0 GM, 6.8 Ford are just a few already approved. Others in test labs at EPA now.

Propane diesel injection has been around since the early 1970's, used in farm tractors first. Now, with technology improvements, there are some really nice systems available which increase overall fuel economy as much as 22% based on my experience of running over 100 diesel vehicles using this technology. Recent University studies indicate NOX is reduced by as much as 32%, particulates are almost non existent.

Many prime power diesel engines now run on as much as 85-95% natural gas substitution, and have done so for at least the last 5 years. No problems associated. In fact, check with Generac Power systems in their 150KW and larger units. You will find they offe dual fuel systems from the factory.

As with any technology, there can be those who take the lower route, causing everyone to become overnight experts like those guys delivering the 6 o'clock news each night.
