Default 86 Jetta clutch R&R eng/trans clutch not engage

Hi everyone I am new to the forum. I recently had to do emergency repair on an 86 jetta 5 spd dropped drivetrain out bottom to access steering rack. No manual limited resources. I put everything back together and engine runs well trans seems to go through the gears crisply but no clutch engagment. I dont have the resources to buy a manual so I ask the community for help. Thanks Crash

Hello and good day:

May I ask what is it exactly what you need help with? Is it that you need help in finding out what is causing the Clutch not to engage?

Please advise further...

Yes that is what is not happening I need to know how to adjust the clutch cable. It appears to be self adjusting and when I removed it all of the slack left and wont let the clutch engage. Thank you for any info Crash

There is usually a plastic/rubber spacer at the end where it joins to the transmission. If you lost it, go to a scrap yard and try to find another. Is the arm on the transmission moving at all when you push in the clutch?
