Question its not valves but its close

hi, i have a '77 corolla 2tc. it was bored out to a 1.8 and i threw on a 1.8 head from the 3tc. and also added forged alluminum pistons. but i need help finding out the clerance for the rocker arms pls...in my motor theres a tickin noise that sounds like my valves are tickin but i check the valves and set the clearance for them which was 8 intake 13 exaust...but when i finished there was still a ticking noise like as if there is no oil or somethin so i did an oil change, but still tickin so my last guess is the rocker arms because i know that once u pull the head off it relieves pressure from them and they could be worn. but i want to check the clearance first before i have to replace them...plus i have to know the clearance still for the new rocker arms any ways...is there anybody that can help me, or at least let me know where i can find out this....and around here there is no repair book on my car its too old unless i order off internet but i dont have a card....is there a site or something that could give me the clearance for my rocker arms for 3tc head and motor....PLS HELP ME...i have to get my car ready for the track on sunday...and its just a small thing stopping me.........

first off is that a top half noise try listening to the timing chain cover.chains stretch, chain guides get eaten.try using a long extension on the timing cover and listen.i'm pretty sure the pushrods are the same between the 2&3ts as well as rockers and chains.i only used to get timing chain noise on mine.my 80 rolla was my first car i bought it when i was 14 had it for 6+ yrs. did a lot 3t btm,2t head and flywheel, norris 460 cam(i think been a while)i know it had a 290 duration aka high lift rough idle ,doug thorley ss header, holley 390 4 brl carb,4-speed trans,5 spd rear.let me know how it goes. peace!!

so you wanna go drifting..i'd go with the 4AG twin cam and turbo..carbd cars are harder to tune for driveability..i've seen turbo 3t's run 8.95s through dual sidedrafts...drifting needs just as much part throttle as WOT...wanna get different? do a 22-RE turbo!!check out the 4AG clubs... i noticed you got the block worked on..find a 3t block get it punched to 1.9 or 2.0 with high comp pistons maybe 9.5 comp ratio that'll get the good times roll'n...pistons are the ticket to these motors..also check the puerto ricans they love the hemis and the rotaries...good luck man,ALOHA
