Default Enjin Heating Up

My1997 nissan hardbody 2,7 diesel has blown top gasket 2x. The back-end bearing has gone totally now but there is enough oil and it appears that all the other bearings get enough lubrication.
Can it be that the oil became too hot and therefore lost its lubrication?
In front of the belt pulley is a sealed unit (like a fan) with a heat sensor which I believe has got some fluid or oil in that is heated up and then starts this "fan" to come in operation. Can this unit be faulty and not turn fast enough?
Please help!!!
Thanx
Chris

Once oil gets too hot, it can loose it's lubrication properties. You might want to see if the thermostat is working properly. The fan should be turning fast enough to pull a decent amount of air in. It might be that the thermostat is not clicking on early enough.
